About the album.

Released in 1997, The Colour and the Shape was the record that established Foo Fighters as a band rather than a Dave Grohl solo project. Grohl had recorded the debut largely alone; for this follow-up, he brought in a full lineup, Nate Mendel, Pat Smear and drummer William Goldsmith, and handed production duties to Gil Norton. Things didn't go smoothly: Goldsmith's drum parts were largely re-recorded by Grohl himself, and Goldsmith left the band before the album came out. None of which is audible in the finished record. Everlong, My Hero and Monkey Wrench all became staples, and the album has never really left the conversation since. This 2015 European reissue was mastered by Bob Ludwig at Gateway Mastering, lacquer-cut by Chris Bellman at Bernie Grundman Mastering, and pressed at Record Industry in the Netherlands.
