About the album.
Boundary Road Snacks And Drinks + Sweet Princess EP gathers the two post-punk EPs that introduced South London's Dry Cleaning, remastered and pressed together on a single LP by 4AD. Guitarist Tom Dowse, drummer Nick Buxton and bassist Lewis Maynard had been playing together as an instrumental group when they asked their friend Florence Shaw, a visual artist and drawing lecturer, to join in 2017. Sweet Princess was recorded in March 2018 at Total Refreshment Centre in London with producer Kristian Craig Robinson, self-released later that year, then given a wider release on the band's own It's OK label in August 2019. Boundary Road Snacks And Drinks, recorded at the same studio in June 2019 and named after the band's rehearsal space, followed that October. Shaw's flat spoken delivery over taut, jangling indie rock became the band's signature well before New Long Leg in 2021, Stumpwork in 2022 and Secret Love in 2026. Both EPs are reissued here with the original artwork and lyric sheet.
