About the album.

Blackstar is David Bowie's final studio album, an art rock record built on a jazz band, released on 8 January 2016, his sixty-ninth birthday, two days before his death from liver cancer. Recorded in secret in New York between January and May 2015, Bowie and his longtime collaborator Tony Visconti co-produced it, with the quartet led by saxophonist Donny McCaslin playing across seven tracks that move between experimental rock, jazz, and electronic textures. The album and its title track won all five Grammy Awards they were nominated for at the 2017 ceremony, including Best Alternative Music Album, Best Rock Song, and Best Rock Performance. This 2026 Parlophone pressing was made in Germany and includes a booklet.
