Jynweythek Ylow opens on prepared piano, damped and metallic, every note landing with a wooden knock. Vordhosbn runs a bright melodic line over drums cut so fine they stop reading as drums. Omgyjya Switch7 arrives on a kick driven into distortion and left there. Cock/Ver10 shreds a breakbeat down to grain and pitch bends the wreckage. Avril 14th is two minutes of unaccompanied piano, dry and close. Gwely Mernans sits underneath on a low drone that barely moves across five minutes. 54 Cymru Beats stutters a chopped voice into a percussion part. Nanou2 closes on piano again, a small figure repeating until it stops.

About the album.

Drukqs is the electronic album Aphex Twin released through Warp in October 2001, reissued for its 25th anniversary in October 2026. Richard D. James built it across two extremes: programmed breakbeat music drawing on jungle and drum and bass at one end, and prepared piano and ambient pieces at the other, placing them side by side with no transition. It runs to thirty tracks and includes "Avril 14th", the solo piano piece that has since travelled far beyond his own catalogue.

The album entered the UK Dance Albums Chart at number one and stayed in the top ten for five weeks, and reached number 22 on the UK Albums Chart. Reviews at the time were split: some treated it as a holding pattern, others as one of his most complete records. Its standing has shifted a lot since.

Warp describe this reissue as completing the full reprint of Aphex Twin's album discography on vinyl, following Selected Ambient Works Volume II in 2024. This is the 4LP pressing: black vinyl in polylined inner sleeves, housed in a gatefold outer sleeve.
