About the album.
Radical Frame is the electronic album Actress released through Ninja Tune on 18 September 2026, his first solo full-length for the label since LXXXVIII in 2023. Darren Cunningham has recorded as Actress since Hazyville in 2008, working a line between abstract techno, musique concrète and refracted club music, and Ninja Tune positions this record as the arrival point of that eighteen-year run.
The label frames it around the idea of a Black British avant-garde, opening its release notes with a passage from the critic Fred Moten and tracing Cunningham's route to the record through Wolverhampton, football, DJing, painting and composition. In sound, by the label's own account, that means the full spread of Actress signatures: short bursts of broken-down music, small zoomed-in sketches, dance floor heat heard at an angle.
Eight tracks. CASISDEAD appears on "Live By You", Rainy Miller on closing track "Sheets". "Overchord" sits at the centre of the album and arrived with a video by Anna van der Velde, who handled creative direction alongside rybskie. Sleeve design is by rybskie.
This is the indie-exclusive pressing: crystal-clear 140g vinyl in a full-colour PANTONE Curious Matter sleeve, housed inside a custom screen-printed PVC outer. MP3 download code included.
