It was recorded at Chem19 with long-time collaborator Paul Savage, whose credits include Mogwai and Belle and Sebastian.

Moffat says the band put everything from the sessions onto this record rather than leaving songs behind. The label describes an album that runs from disco to metal via post-rock and spoken word, with folk and electronic touches along the way, and Moffat calls lead single 'You You You' a disco-metal incantation. Middleton has said the album lands somewhere between what each of them wanted to make, and that tension is part of why it works.

The vinyl edition is a double LP on black vinyl in a gatefold sleeve.

Rock Action is Mogwai's own label, and if Half-Told Tales hits the spot, Mogwai is the natural next record to reach for.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0630/7079/7909/files/arab-strap-half-told-tales-vinyl-2lp-gatefold.jpg?v=1790918576
