It was recorded in the summer of 1995 at their Hexagon Sun studio in the Pentland Hills. That August it came out on the duo's own Music70 label in a run of around 100 copies on cassette and vinyl. Those originals became a highly sought-after collector's item, reportedly changing hands for up to £800, until Warp reissued the EP in November 2002. Its eight listed tracks, plus the unlisted '1986 Summer Fire' tucked in after 'Smokes Quantity', run to around 36 minutes, which is why it is often treated as a mini-album. Several ideas here resurfaced later. 'Smokes Quantity' reappears on Music Has The Right To Children and 'Seeya Later' on Hi Scores, while the closing synth line of 'Basefree' became 'Wildlife Analysis'. The original credits included early third member Chris Horne, co-writer of 'Melissa Juice', whose name was removed from the Warp reissue at his own request. The cover image comes from the 1980 film The Killings at Outpost Zeta. This Warp and Music70 vinyl edition comes in a white die-cut sleeve with stickered centre labels. The record began life in 2019 as a more rhythmic follow-up to her 2018 Warp debut Ultraviolet, shaped by a year of festival touring and staying late to dance to techno. A personal upheaval and the pandemic halt to her touring put it on hold, and she released the piano album Moves in the Field in 2024 before returning to finish it. Moran wrote, recorded and produced the album herself, with mixing by Gabe Schuman and mastering by Joshua Eustis. Across ten tracks, she alters the piano with objects placed on and between the strings, pulling it towards harp, bells and percussion, then threads electronics through it all. The title track features Warp labelmate Bibio. Her ties to electronic music run deep, including playing keyboards in Oneohtrix Point Never's MYRIAD ensemble on the Age Of tour. The British band had made their name on Too Pure with the 1993 debut Quique, and were approached by Warp in early 1994, releasing the Starethrough EP as their first record for the label that April. That spring they recorded this live band session at the BBC's Maida Vale Studios, and it was broadcast on 27 May 1994. The set pairs a reworked 'Starethrough' with three songs that were unreleased at the time, and according to Warp, 'Rough For Radio' was written and recorded at Maida Vale in under two hours. 'Vex' surfaced on the album Succour in 1995, but studio versions of 'Rough For Radio' and 'Phazemaze' were never issued, making this their only official release. Warp brought the session to vinyl in November 2019 as part of WXAXRXP Sessions, a series of ten radio sessions marking the label's 30th anniversary. The pressing was mastered and cut by Noel Summerville, with sleeve design by Michael Oswell and photography by Synchrodogs. \u003c\/p\u003e","brand":"Seefeel","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":46240796278869,"sku":null,"price":42.0,"currency_code":"AUD","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0630\/7079\/7909\/files\/seefeel-peel-session-vinyl-lp.jpg?v=1790664488"}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0630\/7079\/7909\/collections\/boards-of-canada-twoism-vinyl-lp-record-cover.jpg?v=1791178614","url":"https:\/\/juicyrecords.com.au\/collections\/juicy-3-issue-0023.oembed","provider":"Juicy Records","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
